About the Artist

Ken Hartman Art
A love for nature
Nature and anything natural touched by God is my passion. Even when buildings or people are used as a focal point, they are always enhanced by a bit of foliage, rustic stone or atmosphere.
Most of my awards in competitive art venues are at plein air events and I participate in about 8-9 plein air events a year and the number seems to increase every year. But I have also have been awarded first place or "best of show" at art centers and galleries. I also love to paint as a muralist. And have done many large murals eight feet tall and 12 feet wide.
Born in Denver, except for 6 months in Salzburg Austria, I have always lived in Colorado. My career as a high school art instructor spanned 27 years. I now teach at the Taos Watercolor Workshop every June at the Sagebrush Inn. I do love to teach and to share with others the passion of art.
My other interests are: ballroom dancing, fishing, gardening, hiking, backpacking (yes, I still sleep in a tent), and chess.
I live in Colorado Springs, one of the most scenic places on earth. But I also have traveled and painted in many states and countries in Europe.
